OUR History
We are more than just a place to learn pickleball—we are a community built on respect, encouragement, and a passion for helping people enjoy one of the fastest-growing sports in America.
Founded in 2024, Old School Pickleball Club was created with one simple goal: to help beginners learn the game the right way from the very first day.
Our philosophy is simple:
Safety First. Technique Second. Strategy Later.
We believe that every great player starts with strong fundamentals.
Instead of rushing into advanced shots,
We focus on building proper footwork,
Paddle control,
Court awareness, and confidence.
Once those skills become natural, strategy and more advanced techniques become much easier to learn.
Whether you have never picked up a paddle or want to improve your current skills, our programs are designed to help you become a smarter, safer, and more confident player.
Old School Pickleball Club is more than a place to take lessons.
We are building a community where people can learn, exercise, make friends, support one another, and enjoy the game together.
We believe sports should bring people together.
Our club supports family-friendly activities, youth development, community events, local partnerships, and charitable giving.
One good deed a day.
Old School Pickleball Club is proud to serve the beautiful neighboring communities of Venice and Nokomis, located on Florida's stunning Gulf Coast.
Many people ask why we list both Venice and Nokomis on our website.
The answer is simple—they are connected communities only a few minutes apart. Residents and visitors move easily between the two every day for shopping, dining, recreation, beaches, and sports. Whether you stay in Venice or Nokomis, our clinics and lessons are always just a short drive away.
The Venice–Nokomis area has become one of Southwest Florida's favorite destinations for outdoor recreation and active lifestyles.
Students enjoy beautiful weather for much of the year while practicing in well-maintained public parks that offer excellent pickleball facilities.
Our area features several outstanding parks with modern pickleball courts, including facilities with 8 to 10 dedicated courts, making it easy to host clinics, open play, leagues, and community events.
Many of these parks also offer:
Modern community centers
Children's playgrounds
Covered picnic and shaded seating areas
Clean public restrooms
Drinking water refill stations
Large free parking lots
Walking paths and green spaces
These amenities make it easy for players and families to spend the day enjoying both pickleball and everything our community has to offer.
One of the biggest advantages of learning pickleball here is our location.
After your lesson, you're only minutes away from some of Florida's most beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, where you can relax, watch spectacular sunsets, search for shark teeth, enjoy local restaurants, or simply unwind by the water.
Many of our students combine their pickleball lesson with a beach day, creating the perfect Florida experience.
A City Built on Vision
Venice has a fascinating history that began with the vision of Bertha Honoré Palmer, an extraordinary businesswoman and philanthropist whose investment helped transform this beautiful Gulf Coast area into a thriving community. Her efforts attracted the railroad, encouraged development, and laid the foundation for the future City of Venice. The city's elegant layout was later master-planned by renowned city planner John Nolen, whose design of wide boulevards, abundant parks, and Mediterranean-inspired architecture continues to give Venice its unique charm today.
Venice is often called the "Shark Tooth Capital of the World" because thousands of fossilized shark teeth wash onto its beaches every year, attracting visitors from around the globe.
But The city was carefully planned in the 1920s by renowned city planner John Nolen, whose vision included wide boulevards, beautiful parks, and a walkable downtown. Today, Venice is known for its charming Mediterranean Revival architecture, tree-lined streets, vibrant local shops, and welcoming community atmosphere.
With its beautiful parks, outstanding recreational facilities, friendly neighborhoods, and close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, Venice and Nokomis offer an exceptional place to live, vacation, and learn pickleball.
We are proud to call this wonderful community home and look forward to sharing both the game of pickleball and the beauty of our area with every student who joins Old School Pickleball Club.

How I became a Pickleball Couch
Hi, I’m a certified PPR Level 1 Pickleball Coach, and I’d love to share my journey with you. My story begins with 16 years of tennis experience, including playing singles at a 3.0 level and competing in tournaments in Hawaii.
After that, we moved to Las Vegas, where tennis became a big part of our lives. But when we relocated to Venice, Florida, we were introduced to pickleball. At first, we thought it was a game for "older people"—what a misconception! After just one try, my husband and I fell in love with the sport, and it quickly became a big part of our lives.
A couple of years later, my friends started asking me to teach their kids, and that’s when I realized how much I loved helping others learn the game. After teaching more than 20 people, I decided to take the leap and become a certified pickleball coach. It’s been such a rewarding experience, and I have so much fun working with my students.
