What could be better than waking up on a beautiful cruise ship, enjoying breakfast with an ocean view, playing pickleball at sea, exploring a new destination, and finishing the day with dinner, entertainment, and new friends?
Welcome to Pickleball Cruises with Coach Tatyana Neilson and Old School Pickleball Club.
I love two things very much: travel and pickleball.Β

Make new friends and wonderful memories
And the best part?
You unpack your suitcase onceβand your floating hotel takes you from destination to destination.
Travel with a Pickleball Community
One of my favorite things about group travel is that you can enjoy the benefits of traveling together without having to spend every minute together.
Join the group when you want.
Play pickleball.
Have dinner together.
Go on an excursion.
Then take time for yourself whenever you choose.
There is no pressure.
The goal is to create a friendly group of people who share a love of pickleball, travel, laughter, and adventure.
π’π Celebrity Eclipse β Great Ship,
Β But NOT a Pickleball Ship
I really enjoyed the Celebrity Eclipse. The ship is beautiful, the food was AMAZING, and overall I had a great cruise. β€οΈ
But for my pickleball friends, I have to say: this is NOT a pickleball ship.
There is only ONE pickleball court, and it is actually a shared basketball court.
π¬οΈ The court is completely open to the wind, which makes playing pickleball difficult.
β οΈ My biggest concern was safety. There was no supervision or organization of the court. While pickleball players were playing, kids wanted to play basketball in the same area at the same time. Balls and players from two different sports sharing one court can create a dangerous situation.
So my review:
π’ Cruise ship β YES!
π½οΈ Food β AMAZING!
π Pickleball ship β NO!
π’ Celebrity Beyond β Amazing Ship,Β
But Not a Pickleball Ship
The Beyond is a beautiful ship, and I really enjoyed it! β€οΈ
But if you are cruising specifically for pickleball, this would not be my choice.
π The pickleball court setup was strange. It was located in a bar area, not a real sports area. The court was very close to walls and flower pots, so you really need to be careful when running for the ball.
Beautiful ship? Absolutely!
Pickleball ship? No.
π’π Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas β
Β Good Ship & Good Pickleball, BUT not for relaxing trip
I enjoyed my cruise on Liberty of the Seas. The ship was good, the food was good, and for pickleball players there is definitely a big advantage:
π THREE pickleball courts!
The courts themselves are good, and having three courts on a cruise ship is wonderful. But there is one big problem β no supervision or organization.
When many people want to play at the same time, it can become a mess. Who is next? Who is playing with whom? How long should people stay on the court? With nobody organizing the rotation, it can get confusing very quickly.
This is also a very family-oriented cruise, with lots of children and activity everywhere. Kids were running around the sports areas, so for senior travelers looking for a quieter, more relaxing cruise experience, this may not be the best choice.
My review:
π’ Ship β GOOD!
π½οΈ Food β GOOD!
π Pickleball courts β GOOD!
π Pickleball organization β NEEDS IMPROVEMENT!
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Great for families β YES!
π Quiet senior cruise β NOT REALLY!
Would I play pickleball on Liberty of the Seas again? Absolutely. Three courts make a huge difference. I just wish Royal Caribbean would organize the pickleball sessions better.
Would I go again-NO. Too many kids for me.Β Β
We won the 1 st place. Cheerse.
π’π Margaritaville at Sea βΒ
WAY OFF My Pickleball Chart!
Oh boyβ¦ this one was NOT for me. π
The pickleball court is located right at the front of the ship. Sounds exciting until you try to play!
π¬οΈ The wind hits you immediately. You hit the pickleball one directionβ¦and the wind has another plan. π
And the court surface? It felt like playing on plastic LEGO! Definitely one of the strangest pickleball surfaces I have experienced on a cruise.
As for the ship itselfβ¦
π’ Ship β NO, NO, NO!
π Pickleball β NO!
π¬οΈ Wind β YES, PLENTY! π
πΉ Party atmosphere β YES!
Maybe this cruise is perfect for people who want to drink, party, and have fun. But I joked that I would have to be drunk to enjoy this one! π
I don't drink, so this cruise style was simply not for me.
For my pickleball friends, especially players who actually want to enjoy good games at sea:
I would choose another ship.
π’π Holland America Eurodam βΒ
My #1 Pickleball Cruise So Far!
After cruising on 7 different ships, the Holland America Eurodam is my #1 choice so far. β€οΈ
The ship is older, but it is still very nice and comfortable. And the food? AWESOME!
The quality of the food and the overall atmosphere reminded me of Celebrity Beyond, which I also really enjoyed. For me, they share the #1 spot for food and atmosphere.
But Eurodam wins when I add pickleball to the equation. π
The pickleball courts are better, and the entire atmosphere of the ship feels more relaxed and comfortable. I could enjoy my cruise AND enjoy my pickleball.
My review:
π’ Ship β YES!
π½οΈ Food β AWESOME!
π Pickleball β YES!
π Atmosphere β RELAXING!
β€οΈ Would I cruise Holland America again? β 100% YES!
For me, Eurodam is currently the #1 overall ship out of the 7 ships I have tried.
I would absolutely go again!
This is #3 so far. π’π Regal Princess βΒ
My #3 Favorite Cruise Ship So Far!
After Celebrity Beyond and Holland America Eurodam, Regal Princess is my #3 favorite ship from my cruises so far. β€οΈ
And when we talk specifically about the pickleball court location and surface β this may actually be the BEST setup I've experienced on a cruise ship!
π TWO courts, located in the middle of the ship β a much better location for playing.
The court surface was rubberized and non-slip, which I really liked. The downside? There were so many different lines painted on the courts that sometimes you had to stop and figure out which lines belonged to pickleball. π
And Princessβ¦ please buy some better pickleball nets! π The nets were pretty junky for such a beautiful ship.
There was no organized pickleball program or supervision, but we had GREAT PLAYERS onboard. We organized our own open play, figured out the rotation ourselves, and had a wonderful time.
π½οΈ The food was great.
π’ The ship was good.
π The pickleball was great.
One BIG piece of advice from my personal experience:
β οΈ Be careful choosing your cabin toward the back of the ship.
My room was in the aft section, and I could feel a lot of vibration from the engines. The room was shaking and jerking β it felt like I was trying to sleep in a massage chair all night! π
I couldn't handle it and eventually asked to change rooms.
Next time, I will personally choose a cabin farther forward, around the lower-numbered cabin area rather than toward the very back of the ship.Β
Do not buy cabin after number 500!
So, will I cruise on Regal Princess again?
YES!
Actuallyβ¦ I'm already going again! β€οΈ
π’π Celebrity Summit β
Β Good Pickleball Court, But Would I Go Again?
Celebrity Summit is a good cruise ship, and the pickleball setup has some very good points.
π The court surface is good, and I really liked that the court is protected from the wind. Anyone who has tried pickleball on a windy cruise ship knows how important that is!
But there is a serious problem with the court design.
β οΈ The back wall is WAY too close to the baseline.
There isn't enough room to serve or return comfortably. You can actually hit your elbow on the wall and hurt yourself. For safety, we had to step about 3 feet inside the court to serve and return the ball.
For me, safety always comes first, and this setup needs improvement.
π½οΈ Then there was the food.
If you enjoy Indian and Asian-style food, you may really like the selection. It simply wasn't for me. I also wasn't a fan of the desserts. Many had a gelatin-style texture β even the cheesecake β and that made this dessert lover very sad! π
My review:
π’ Ship β GOOD
π Pickleball court β GOOD surface & wind protection
β οΈ Safety behind the baseline β NOT GOOD
π½οΈ Food β NOT FOR MY TASTE
π Would I go again? β NO, not right now
If they improve the menu in the future, maybe I would reconsider.
For now, Celebrity Summit is not on my return list.
